The IISE Puget Sound Chapter has about 1,100 members of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) from about 10 different companies all around the Puget Sound area.
About 1,000 of our Chapter members are “Corporate” IISE members from The Boeing Company, the remainder are from 10 other local companies.
We are part of IISE’s Western Region #7, that covers the western third of the U.S.
Our main focus as a Chapter is providing networking opportunities for our Chapter members.
We partner with the Student Chapter of IISE at the University of Washington on several annual activities (Mock interviews, Resume writing workshop, and general career coaching). Our Chapter’s Liaison Officer coordinates with U.W.’s Student IISE Chapter on all these activities.
Our IISE Chapter also provides cash support, guest speakers, and we have some joint social events with the Student IISE Chapter.
We have an IISE Chapter representative on the U.W. Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) Department’s Visiting Committee (along with 20 other representatives from local industries, which advise the ISE Department Chair).
Our Chapter meetings and activities are open to officers of the UW Student Chapter and visitors .
We utilize IISE’s Chapter Progress and Performance (CPP) Report to help plan and focus our Chapter’s activities.
We have written Job Duties for all Chapter Officer positions.
We usually have Chapter representatives at the IISE’s Annual Conference, as well as the Pre-Conference Leadership Training sessions, and at the IISE Student Regional Conference.
Our Chapter is an active member of the Puget Sound Engineering Council (PSEC), which has 25 local engineering Societies. We have a PSEC representative that attends their monthly Council meetings to help coordinate joint activities, such as PSEC “Mentor” Nights with K-12 and Community College Pre-Engineering students.
We participate in the PSEC’s annual K-12 Engineering Fair at the Seattle Museum of Flight, and display booths from member Societies. The Engineering Fair targets middle school & high school students and is done in conjunction with National Engineer’s Week.
In addition, we participate at PSEC’s annual Engineers Awards Banquet.
